LUANA

digital photography + web art + collaborative art

2008 - 2012

Luana is an investigation into  portraiture, cultural identity, and ‘reality’, with the aim of embedding their respective debates into the domain of cyberspace.

An interactive website is created in order to host crowd-sourced stories which are added as backstories and explanations of the photographic portraits I have created. In the following stage, I record those stories and play them along with each respective photograph which is displayed in individual photo booths.

My proposal is to investigate human behaviour at the moment an individual's life becomes accessible to others. Luana also illustrates the role those who surround us play in (re)building our own identities.

This work was undertaken with the financial support of the Museum of Image and Sound (Museu da Imagem e do Som – MIS, Brazil).

The online platform that has hosted the portraits and their respective stories can be accessed here.
